Corner Bathtubs
Installing a corner bathtub is a popular
option for small bathroom designs. Rather than allowing a
bathtub to take up a central part of the bathroom area, like
large free standing bathtubs do, a corner tub only takes up one
corner of the bathroom. This gives you more room for other
important bathroom fixtures including toilets and bathroom
vanities.
Corner bathtubs come in different shapes.
Corner oval bathtubs are probably the most popular, which
includes the luxury garden bathtub style. Some Japanese
bathtubs and other soaking tubs are made in a corner design.
Round and square bathtubs to be positioned in a corner are
available as well but these styles are harder to find.
Most corner bathtubs are made of acrylic. This
material is lightweight, easy to clean, and requires very
little maintenance over time. Also, acrylic is one of the most
inexpensive bathtub
materials available and it comes in a wide variety of
colors that can be matched to an existing bathroom design.
Installation of a corner bathtub is generally no more involved
than what is required for a standard alcove tub.
Many different features are available for corner
bathtubs. Standard corner bathtubs do not usually include
any special features, but luxury corner bathtubs have numerous
additions available. Kohler, for example, makes a variety of
corner bathubs that include features ranging from lumbar
supports, footstops, and arm rests to whirlpool jets and bath
pillows. Keep in mind that prices will vary depending on the
features you choose. A standard corner bathtub with no special
fixtures can potentially be hundreds of dollars less than the
more luxurious kohler tubs.
Corner bathtub dimensions vary. While most designs are
considered small corner bathtubs, there are actually some types
that may take up more room than standard alcove showers and
tubs. Usually it is the deep corner bathtubs that have larger
dimensions that can range from 5 feet to 7 feet on one side.
Corner whirlpool bathtubs are usually large in size as well.
About the smallest corner bathtub designs available are the 4
foot corner bathtubs made of acrylic. It is also possible to
have corner bathtubs custom made to your specifications. Before
purchasing a corner bathtub, be sure to know the dimensions of
your bathroom and make sure measurements are accurate to ensure
that you do not end up with a tub that is too large for your
bathroom. Also, take special notice of how the dimensions of
the tub are listed. Some corner bathtub models list two
different sizes - one is the wall dimensions of the tub, the
other is the installed size.
Lowes and Homedepot both offer corner bathtubs for your home
in addition to their wide selections of other bathroom
accessories including bathroom vanities, toilets, showers, and
shower stalls. Many of the popular bathtub manufacturers make
corner bathtubs including Maax, Kohler bathtubs, American
Standard, Jacuzzi, Moen, and
Toto.
